Saxony
A strikingly beautiful heritage breed which was nearly eradicated during WWII. The males have a pewter grey head with a which neck ring, burgundy breast feathers and pewter tail feathers on a slightly beige body. The females are buff with a white stripe above the eye and pale blue wing feathers. These are a large duck, comparable in size to Pekins and Rouens, making them a wonderful eating bird. These birds are critically endangered.
Welsh Harlequin
A small sized duck, perfect for foraging and slug catching! If you are looking for a yard duck rather than an eating duck, this is your candidate. The males have similar characteristics to a Mallard, with the beetle green head and wing speculums on a naturally shaded body. The females are snowy white to cream with dark bills and stunning blue wing speculums. This breed is also critically endangered.
Muscovy
The traditional quack-less duck of South America in pure white. They make excellent meat birds and if you live within city limits they will be your quietest selection!
